Bryan Peterson’s book, ‘Understanding Exposure’, is a fantastic guide for beginners as well as anyone looking to refresh their knowledge. I received this book as an anniversary gift from my wife, shortly after I bought my first digital SLR. I have read it at least 4 times cover to cover and many more times as a quick reference on something specific.
Prior to reading this book, I hardly used the Manual mode on a camera and only sometimes used the Av and Tv modes. With just one cover to cover read, I got much more comfortable with the Av and Tv modes, as well as started using the Manual mode a lot more.
What specifically interests me, is the author’s reference to the “creatively correct” exposure. The section “Six Correct Exposures vs. One Creatively Correct One”, is a revealing chapter.
If you are looking for your first book on photography or looking to add to your collection, this book is a must have.
